Public Safety FAQ

Public safety planning is a top priority. Peel Police is working alongside other law enforcement agencies like Toronto Police service and government partners to deliver a comprehensive, integrated public safety plan. This includes enhanced operational planning, coordinated response protocols, and a strong on-the-ground presence to ensure a safe environment for both residents and visitors.

Yes. Residents can expect a visible and coordinated public safety presence. This includes increased patrols, strategic deployment of emergency services, and enhanced coordination across agencies to respond quickly and effectively to any situation.

Detailed crowd management and event planning strategies are being implemented, including:

  • Controlled access points where needed
  • Clearly marked safety zones and routes
  • Real-time monitoring and coordination
  • On-site emergency response teams

These measures are designed to ensure safe, orderly movement and minimize risks during high-attendance activities.

There will be anticipated road closures. Traffic management plans are being developed in collaboration with municipal partners. These include:

  • Temporary road adjustments and detours, where required
  • Enhanced traffic control and signage
  • Increased transit coordination
  • Clear public updates to help residents plan ahead

These efforts aim to reduce congestion and maintain safe travel conditions.

While every effort is being made to minimize impacts, residents may experience temporary disruptions such as increased traffic, road closures, or higher activity levels in certain areas. Notice on our social media channels and regular updates will be provided so residents can plan accordingly.

Timely and accurate information will be shared through:

  • Peel Police social channels
  • Official government websites and social channels
  • Local media outlets
  • Emergency notification systems (where applicable)
  • Community partners

Residents are encouraged to rely on official sources for verified information.

Risk assessments and mitigation strategies are a key part of planning. Peel is working in lockstep with partners to ensure that security measures are appropriate, responsive, and aligned with best practices for large-scale international events.

Mississauga City council will broadcast 62 FIFA World Cup matches at Celebration Square, including the World Cup final on July 19. Peel Police will be providing public safety during these matches.

While there are no official broadcasts happening in the City of Brampton, the city is hosting the grande finale of the national Canada Celebrate FIFA World Cup tour on July 18 and 19. This is a free, family-friendly event that will feature live match screenings (for bronze and medal games), interactive fan experiences, and cultural programming.
