Major Auto Theft Investigation Leads to 44 Charges and Second Wanted Suspect

Investigators from the 12 Division Criminal Investigation Bureau (CIB) have arrested and charged one man and issued a warrant for a second man following a series of vehicle thefts targeting residential parking lots in Mississauga.

In May 2026, investigators identified a series of vehicle thefts and attempted thefts occurring within the underground parking garages in the area of Hurontario Street and Burnhamthorpe Road East in Mississauga. Several vehicles were stolen, while others were damaged during attempted thefts.

As a result, Project Tail Light was launched to identify those responsible and disrupt ongoing criminal activity. Through video surveillance analysis, Automated Licence Plate Recognition, Body-Worn Camera footage, and community outreach, two suspects were identified.

Search warrants were executed at residences in Mississauga and Erin, Ont. Investigators seized several cellular phones, key fobs and key‑programming devices, vehicle-related documents, and approximately $1,465 in cash believed to be proceeds of crime.

Prince, a 21-year-old man from Mississauga, has been charged with 22 criminal offences, including:

  • Breach of Release Order
  • Theft of Motor Vehicle x7
  • Possession of Break and Enter Instruments x5
  • Mischief over $5000 x5
  • Theft Over $5000
  • Theft Under $5000 x2
  • Fraud Under $5000

He was held for a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton.

A warrant has also been issued for Gurjeet Singh Virk (pictured), 23, in connection with 22 related criminal offences.

Police are requesting that Virk turn himself in to the nearest police station. Virk is described as a South Asian male, 5'10" tall, with a medium build, short curly black hair, and brown eyes.

The investigation remains ongoing. Evidence seized during the search warrants continues to be analyzed, and investigators are pursuing additional leads to identify any other individuals involved.

Anyone with information regarding these incidents or Virk's whereabouts is asked to contact investigators with the 12 Division CIB at 905-453-2121 ext. 1233.
