Constable Artem "James" Ochakovsky
March 2, 2010
Age: 36
Years of Service: Two
On March 1, 2010, at approximately 11 p.m., Cst. Ochakovsky was involved in a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Airport Road and Steeles Avenue East, Brampton. He was taken to Sunnybrook Health Sciences Center with critical injuries. Despite the hospital staff's best efforts, Cst. Ochakovsky succumbed to his injuries.
He was survived by his wife and son.

Cst. Dwayne B. Piukkala
August 26, 1984
Age: 24
Years of Service: Three
On August 26, 1984, Cst. Piukkala responded to a fake call at a residence. As he entered the location he was attacked and stabbed to death. Following the attack, the individual took the Constables' revolver and died by suicide.
In recognition of his service, the Peel Regional Police Service Board created the Cst. Dwayne Piukkala Memorial Award. The award is presented annually to Peel officers with less than five years of experience that have demonstrated excellent service.
He was survived by his wife.

Det. Volker H. Scheja
November 19, 1982
Age: 34
Years of Service: Eight
On November 19, 1982, Det. Scheja was a passenger in a police cruiser operated by Det. William Hawkins. The cruiser left the road and struck a gutter, killing both officers.
He was survived by his wife and two children.

Years of Service: 14
Det. Bill Hawkins was operating a police vehicle with his partner Det. Volker Scheja. The vehicle left the roadway and struck a gutter, killing both officers.
He was survived by his wife.

Det. Ronald G. Sproule
July 29, 1975
Age: 34
Years of Service: Nine
On July 29, 1975, Det. Sproule was a passenger in a police cruiser when the driver of the vehicle lost control and veered across the highway. The cruiser was struck on the passenger's side by a van, killing Det. Sproule.
He was survived by his wife and two children.

Cst. Ronald F. Webster
January 18, 1966
Age: 35
Years of Service: Five
On January 18, 1966, Cst. Webster was on routine patrol when the cruiser he was operating was struck head on by a vehicle traveling in the opposite direction.
He was survived by his wife and two children.
