Peel Police Seek Witnesses Following Fatal Fail-to-Remain Collision in Mississauga

Region of Peel – Investigators with the Major Collision Bureau (MCB) are seeking the public’s assistance following a fatal fail-to-remain collision involving a pedestrian in Mississauga.

On Sunday, July 5, shortly after 6 a.m., police responded to a motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian at the intersection of Erin Mills Parkway and Eglinton Avenue West.

A white 2015-2020 Mercedes GLA 250 or 45 Series was travelling eastbound on Eglinton Avenue West at a high rate of speed. The vehicle ran a red light and struck the female pedestrian who was crossing in the crosswalk. The suspect made no attempt to stop and check on her wellbeing, instead fleeing the scene along Eglinton.

The pedestrian, a 38-year-old female from Mississauga, was pronounced deceased.

As investigators continue to canvas existing footage, they are urging anyone who was in the area at the time of the collision to review any dash camera or cellphone video for potential images of the suspect vehicle or the incident itself.

Investigators are also asking automotive repair facilities and body shops to contact police immediately if they encounter a Mercedes with damage consistent with the collision, including front-end or windshield damage.

Residents are asked to remain vigilant. If you observe a white Mercedes with damage matching this description, or if you know of a white Mercedes sedan in your neighbourhood that has not been seen since the collision, contact police immediately.

The suspect is encouraged to seek legal counsel and turn themselves in to police.

Anyone with information or relevant footage is asked to contact MCB investigators at 905-453-2121, ext. 3710.
