Peel Police Seek Witnesses Following Fatal Fail-to-Remain Collision in Mississauga

Region of Peel – Investigators with the Major Collision Bureau (MCB) are seeking the public’s assistance following a fatal fail-to-remain collision involving a pedestrian in Mississauga.

On Sunday, July 5, shortly after 6 a.m., police responded to a motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian at the intersection of Erin Mills Parkway and Eglinton Avenue West.

A white Mercedes sedan was travelling eastbound on Eglinton Avenue West at a high rate of speed when it struck a female pedestrian who was in the intersection. The driver made no attempt to stop and fled the scene. The pedestrian, a 38-year-old female from Mississauga, was pronounced deceased.

The suspect vehicle is believed to have sustained extensive damage to the front end and windshield.

Investigators are appealing to anyone who was in the area at the time to review dashcam or cellphone footage for any sightings of the suspect vehicle or the collision. Police are also asking local body shops to contact investigators if a white Mercedes sedan with similar damage is brought in for repair.

Investigators are urging the suspect to retain legal counsel and turn themselves in to police.

Anyone with information or relevant footage is asked to contact MCB investigators at 905-453-2121, ext. 3710.
