Repeat Offender Charged by Safer Roads Team

Region of Peel – Investigators from the Road Safety Services unit have laid numerous charges against a man, after he was found operating a vehicle while in contravention of court and suspension orders.

In April 2022, officers from the Safer Roads Team observed the suspect operating a motor vehicle while he was prohibited from doing so. As a result of further investigation, the suspect was located on May 27, 2022 at a residence in the City of Mississauga and was subsequently arrested.

Ryan Kong, a 46-year-old man from Mississauga, has been charged with the following offences:

Operation While Prohibited x4
Fail to Comply With Release Order
Fail to Comply With Undertaking x2
Drive Under Suspension x2

Ryan Kong was held for a bail hearing and appeared at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton on May 28, 2022.

Additionally, Ryan Kong was wanted on outstanding charges for previous incidents, which included charges of:

Dangerous Operation
Flight From Peace Officer x2
Operation While Prohibited x2
Operation While Impaired x2
Fail to Stop After Collision
and several offences under the Highway Traffic Act.

The Safer Roads Team continues to show its value as part of the Community Safety and Well-Being (CSWB) paradigm. The team continues to focus on prolific offenders and re-offenders who continue to pose an increased risk to our community.
