Police Celebrate Opening of new Headquarters and Museum

Chief Jennifer Evans cut the ribbon this morning officially opening the new Peel Regional Police Headquarters and Museum located at 7150 Mississauga Road in Mississauga. The 92,000 square foot building sits on approximately 7.59 acres and is home to approximately 232 employees. It is home to the Chief’s Management Group and a number of administrative bureaus including Corporate Communications, Corporate Planning and Research, Human Resources, Finance, Facilities Management, and Professional Standards among others.

The Region of Peel has experienced booming growth over the last 44 years, and so too has Peel Regional Police, the new building provides us with the extra space needed to improve efficiency by housing a number of bureaus together under one roof that share decision making duties improving service delivery.

The first Peel Regional Police Headquarters opened 44 years ago on December 31, 1973, at 168 Kennedy Road South in the City of Brampton. Later, on October 30, 1981 it moved to 7750 Hurontario Street in Brampton; that building was since renamed the Sir Robert Peel Center. Fast forward 35 years, the growth of Peel Region has still shown no signs of slowing down.

About 100 employees, retired members, community partners and distinguished guests were in attendance at the ribbon cutting ceremony, including the Police Services Board, and the Minister of Community Safety and Correctional Services the Hon. Michael Tibollo.

The Peel Regional Police Museum is open to the public, with the exception of statutory holidays, Monday to Friday 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Admission is free.
