THIS is How We Do It

Auto Theft is Down in Peel Region

Auto theft and cargo crime do more than steal property. Behind every theft is a victim whose life, family, or business has been affected.

While auto theft has declined from peak levels, it remains a key priority for Peel Police. Between January 2025 and June 2026, officers laid 1,217 criminal charges related to auto theft as part of ongoing efforts to hold offenders accountable and protect our communities.

Through ongoing investments in auto theft prevention and enforcement, coordinated investigations, and strong partnerships, Peel Police has established itself as a national leader in combating vehicle crime, earning recognition for its innovative and proactive approach.
