Youth Arrested in Carjacking Robberies Investigation
Region of Peel â Investigators from the Peel Regional Police Central Robbery Bureau in partnership with members of the Halton Regional Police Service have charged a 16-year-old male with a series of carjacking style robberies that occurred in Brampton and Oakville.
On Wednesday, April 22, 2020, at approximately 12:15 pm, the suspects placed an order with a food delivery service. They lured the victim to the area of Mountainberry Road and Snowcap Road in Brampton. When the victim arrived at the delivery location, the suspects confronted the victim while armed with a knife and made a demand for the victim's vehicle. The victim complied, and the suspects fled the area.
At 4:55 pm, the suspects placed another order with a food delivery service and requested delivery to an address on Nature Court in the City of Brampton. The victim was robbed at knifepoint and relieved of his vehicle.
At 8:00 pm, a third robbery occurred at an address in the area of Hidden Trail in the City of Oakville. The suspects confronted the victim and robbed him at knifepoint. Two of the three vehicles involved are still outstanding and are listed as stolen.
On Friday, April 24, 2020, investigators arrested and charged a 16-year-old who resides in the City of Brampton with the following charges:
- Robbery (X3)
- Possession of Stolen Property
A second suspect involved in these robberies is still outstanding, he is described as male black, 5'8", 22 to 23 years of age, thin build, clean-shaven, wearing a black hoodie, black mask and black pants.
A general provision of the Youth Criminal Justice Act (Y.C.J.A.) prohibits the release of the name of a Young Person and, therefore, the identity of the Young Persons charged in this investigation is protected.
