Witnesses Sought in Fatal Fail to Remain Collision
Region of Peel– Investigators from the Major Collision Bureau are seeking the public’s assistance into the investigation of a fatal hit and run collision that occurred on May 1, 2019 at 5:07 p.m. at the intersection of Sorrento Drive and Elia Avenue in Mississauga.
Rafaela Piedrasanta, a 75 year-old woman from Mississauga, was walking from the south side of Elia Avenue to the north side of Elia Avenue at Sorrento Drive when she was struck by a white Ford Pick-Up truck that was turning right. The pedestrian suffered serious injuries and was transported to a hospital where she died of her injuries.
The collision was captured on video. The vehicle has been identified as a white 2018 Ford Pick-Up truck with four doors and a white Leer cap on the box. The vehicle licence plate is AV27643, this vehicle has not yet been recovered.
Police are asking for anyone with information on the location of this vehicle or if they have any information related to this collision to contact the Major Collision Bureau (905) 453–2121, ext. 3710.
