VIDEO: Want to Buy Stuff Safely?

WATCH

Don’t feel comfortable meeting in a public place to exchange property bought and sold online? Join Constable Michelle Vivian and Constable Donna Watson as they check out one of our Buy and Sell Safe Exchange Zones at Peel Regional Police’s 11 Division.

Here are three reasons why you should attend our Buy and Sell Safe Exchange Zones when making an online purchase:

  1. It is a much safer location.
  2. You have time to make sure the item you’ve agreed to purchase is the item you received.
  3. You have time to make sure the money you received is real currency.  To learn more about identifying counterfeit money, please visit the Bank of Canada website.

Our Buy and Sell Safe Exchange Zones have been set up in the parking lots of three different divisions.  They are located close to the front door, well-lit and under existing video surveillance.

We continue to see an increase in thefts, robberies and frauds that have occurred as a result of online transactions.

In order to increase public safety and reduce crime, we invite the public to use our Buy and Sell Safe Exchange Zones at these three locations:

  • 22 Division, located at 7750 Hurontario Street in the City of Brampton,
  • 12 Division, located at 4600 Dixie Road in the City of Mississauga, and,
  • 11 Division, located at 3030 Erin Mills Parkway in the City of Mississauga.
