Vehicle Stop Leads to Arrests and Gun Seized

Region of Peel: Officers from Peel Regional Police’s 21 Division Community Intervention and Response Team (CIRT) have arrested two individuals and seized an illegal firearm following a vehicle stop in Brampton.
On Thursday, Nov. 6, CIRT officers were conducting proactive patrols at Bramalea City Centre Mall in response to ongoing community complaints of lawlessness and suspicious activity.
Officers began investigating the occupants of a black pickup in the parking lot for Liquor Licence Act offences. During the investigation, officers located a loaded illegal handgun. Both occupants were arrested and held in custody pending a bail hearing.
Jasdeep Seehra, a 20-year-old man from Brampton, has been charged with the following offences:
- Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
- Occupant of a Motor Vehicle Knowing There was a Firearm
- Possession of a Loaded Prohibited or Restricted Firearm
- Careless Storage of a Firearm
- Fail to Comply with Release Order
- Possession of a Controlled Substance – Cocaine
- Having Care or Control of a Motor Vehicle with Open Container of Liquor
At the time of his arrest, Jasdeep was out on bail with conditions not to possess any weapons or firearms.
Guneek Jawanda, an 18-year-old woman from Brampton, has been charged with the following offences:
- Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
- Occupant of a Motor Vehicle Knowing There was a Firearm
- Possession of a Loaded Prohibited or Restricted Firearm
- Careless Storage of a Firearm
- Having Care or Control of a Motor Vehicle with Open Container of Liquor
