UPDATE: Multiple Arrests Made in Serious Fail to Remain Collision

Region of Peel – The 11 Division Criminal Investigations Bureau (CIB) have arrested and charged three suspects following a serious collision in Mississauga that left four children, and an adult seriously injured.

On Thursday, July 3, 2025, shortly after 4:00 p.m., a black Range Rover collided with a red Honda Civic at the intersection of Ninth Line and Erin Centre Boulevard, seriously injuring the five occupants inside, including four children. The two suspects in the Range Rover fled the scene on foot without making any attempt to check on the well-being of the individuals involved in the crash. Fortunately, there was no loss of life.

Investigators determined that before the crash, the black Range Rover was being followed by the driver of a red Ford Mustang. Investigators learned that the occupants of the Range Rover were involved in an armed robbery at a nearby gym parking lot before fleeing the area.

Both the black Range Rover and the Red Mustang were observed driving erratically and at high rates of speed in the moments leading to the crash.

Investigation revealed that Daijuan Buchanan an 18-year-old from Brampton and Jahzvi Smith a 22-year-old from Mississauga were the driver and occupant of the Range Rover. They have been charged with the following Criminal Code offences:

Daijuan Buchanan

  • Robbery
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
  • Occupant of Motor Vehicle Knowing there was a firearm
  • Knowledge of Unauthorized possession of Firearm
  • Firearm – Use While Committing an Offence
  • Dangerous Operation Cause Bodily Harm x 5
  • Fail to Stop after Accident
  • Fail to Comply with Release Order

 Jahzyi Smith 

  • Robbery
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
  • Occupant of Motor Vehicle Knowing there was a firearm
  • Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of Firearm
  • Firearm – Use While Committing an Offence
  • Point Firearm

Both individuals were held for a bail hearing and appeared at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton.

Further investigation revealed that Jashanpreet Singh a 28-year-old from Mississauga was driving the red Mustang on the night of the collision. He has been arrested and charged with Dangerous Operation of a motor vehicle. He was released with conditions to attend court at a later date.
