Two Loaded Firearms Seized in Brampton

Region of Peel – Officers from 22 Division have seized two loaded firearms and illicit drugs in two separate investigations in Brampton.

On Wednesday, May 14, 2025, police executed a criminal code search warrant at a residence in Brampton and located a fully loaded Glock handgun, along with a quantity of illegal substances.

Antwon Asamoah, 29 year-old-man from Brampton was arrested and charged with the following offences and held for bail:

  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking a Controlled Substance (X3)
  • Possession of a Loaded Restricted Firearm
  • Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
  • Possession of a Prohibited Device or Ammunition

On Saturday, May 17, officers were on general patrol when they conducted a traffic stop in the area of Ready Court and Drinkwater Road. As a result, police seized a 9mm Smith and Wesson handgun, a quantity of illicit drugs, and Canadian currency.

Howard Hemmings, a 48-year-old man from Shelburne, was arrested. Further investigation revealed that Hemmings was bound by a release order with specific conditions, as well as a prohibition order. Hemmings was charged with the following offences and held for a bail hearing:

  • Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
  • Fail to Comply with Release Order
  • Fail to Comply with Prohibition Order
  • Possession for the Purpose - Schedule 1 Cocaine

Tracy Campbell, 43-year-old woman from Brampton was arrested and charged with the following offences and held for bail:

  • Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
  • Possession for the Purpose - Schedule 1 Cocaine

The investigation remains ongoing, and police anticipated further charges to be laid.
