Traffic Stops Lead to Firearms Seized and Dozens of Charges

Region of Peel – Investigators from the Strategic and Tactical Enforcement Police (STEP) unit arrested and charged several individuals following two traffic stops in which multiple loaded firearms were recovered.

On Sept. 13, 2025, at approximately 3 a.m., officers from the STEP unit, while conducting proactive patrols, initiated simultaneous traffic stops on two vehicles believed to be associated with one another.

Upon approaching the first vehicle, officers observed multiple open alcoholic beverage containers in plain view. This led to a search of the vehicle, during which a loaded handgun was located and seized. In the second vehicle, cannabis was found readily accessible to the front passenger, contrary to the Cannabis Control Act. A subsequent search resulted in the seizure of two additional loaded handguns.

As a result, eight individuals are facing a combined 70 charges, many of which are firearm related. A full list of accused parties and charges is available in the attached charge sheet

All eight individuals were held for bail hearings and attended the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton.
