Traffic Stop Results in Loaded Firearm (1)

Region of Peel - Officers from the Strategic Tactical Enforcement Program (S.T.E.P.) located a loaded firearm and laid numerous firearm-related charges after conducting a traffic stop in Mississauga.
On Friday, June 16, 2023, at 10:55 p.m., Strategic Tactical Enforcement Program officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of Mid-Way Boulevard and Invader Crescent in the City of Mississauga.
During the investigation, a loaded firearm was seized within the vehicle.
As a result of the investigation, four men were arrested and charged.
Malik Ash-Lewis, a 20-year-old man from the City of Toronto, is charged with the following offences:
- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
- Possess a Loaded Restricted or Prohibited Firearm
- Occupant of a Motor Vehicle Knowing there is a Firearm
- Careless Storage of a Firearm
He was held for a bail hearing and attended the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton.
Kemyan Franklyn-Mitchell, a 19-year-old man from the City of Toronto, is charged with the following offences:
- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
- Possess a Loaded Restricted or Prohibited Firearm
- Occupant of a Motor Vehicle Knowing there is a Firearm
- Careless Storage of a Firearm
- Carry Concealed Weapon
He was held for a bail hearing and attended the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton.
Shamar Alexander, a 20-year-old man from the City of Toronto, is charged with the following offences:
- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
- Possess a Loaded Restricted or Prohibited Firearm
- Occupant of a Motor Vehicle Knowing there is a Firearm
- Careless Storage of a Firearm
He was held for a bail hearing and attended the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton.
Lenox Alexander, a 19-year-old man from the City of Toronto, is charged with the following offences:
- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
- Possess a Loaded Restricted or Prohibited Firearm
- Occupant of a Motor Vehicle Knowing there is a Firearm
- Careless Storage of a Firearm
He was held for a bail hearing and attended the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton.
