Traffic Stop Leads To Seizure of Loaded Sawed off Shotgun and Pistol
Region of Peel â Officers from 22 Division have charged a man and a youth with firearms-related offences in Brampton.
On Saturday, April 11, 2020, at approximately 10:53 p.m., uniform officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of Isabella Street and Rosedale Avenue West in the City of Brampton.
During their investigation, officers located a loaded, sawed-off shotgun on the floor of the vehicle. A loaded Glock pistol was also located in the vehicle, along with two additional loaded magazines and shotgun ammunition.
A 19-year-old man and a 15-year-old youth, both from Brampton were charged with the following firearms-related charges:
1) Careless Storage of a Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited Device or Ammunition X4
2) Unauthorized Possession of Firearm
3) Unauthorized Possession of Prohibited or Restricted Weapon
4) Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of Firearm
5) Possession of Weapon for Dangerous X2
6) Possession of a Prohibited Device or Ammunition Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized
7) Possession of a Loaded Prohibited or Restricted Firearm X2
8) Possession of Firearm at Unauthorized place X2
9) Occupant of Motor Vehicle Knowing there was Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Weapon
In addition to the firearms charges, there were three counts of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime and two counts of fail to Comply with an Order given during a declared emergency.
The adult male is being held for a special bail hearing and will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in the City of Brampton on Tuesday, April 28, 2020.
A general provision of the Youth Criminal Justice Act (Y.C.J.A.) prohibits the release of the name of a Young Person and, therefore, the identities of the Young Persons charged in this investigation are protected.
