Traffic Stop Leads to Firearms Seized
Region of Peel – The 22 Division Community Intervention and Response Team (CIRT) have arrested three individuals in connection with multiple driving and firearms-related offences.
On Tuesday, Dec. 9, at approximately 7 p.m., CIRT officers investigated a vehicle on Worthington Avenue in the City of Brampton, but the driver fled at a high rate of speed. Shortly after, the vehicle lost control and became disabled.
As a result, the following two men and a youth were arrested and charged:
- 18-year-old Myles Haywood-Williams, Brampton
- 20-year-old Elijah Turney, Dundalk
- 16-year-old Young Person, Brampton
During the subsequent investigation, officers located two loaded Glock handguns, a high-capacity magazine containing 26 rounds of ammunition and a drum magazine.
The full list of charges follows this release.
All three accused were held for a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton.
A general provision of the Youth Criminal Justice Act (Y.C.J.A.) prohibits the release of the name of a young person, and, therefore, the identity of the Young Persons charged in this investigation is protected.
