Traffic Stop leads to 20 Charges Laid and the Seizure of a Firearm and Illicit Substances

Region of Peel – Officers from 22 Division Uniform patrol located an illegal firearm and illicit substances after investigating a vehicle in Brampton.

On July 17, officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of Kennedy Road and Rambler Drive in relation to a Highway Traffic Act Offence. Upon observing cannabis in the vehicle, further investigation led to the discovery of an illegal loaded firearm, a canister of pepper spray and a quantity of illicit substances in possession of the two occupants.

As a result, the following individuals from Toronto were arrested and charged:

Daniel Solis (20)

  • Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
  • Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of Firearm
  • Possession of a Loaded Prohibited or Restricted Firearm
  • Occupant of a Motor Vehicle Knowing there was Firearm
  • Possession of a Prohibited Device or Ammunition or Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized x2
  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking x3
  • Coating Obstructing Interior
  • Having Care or Control of a Vehicle with Cannabis Readily Available

Ashley Morales (21)

  • Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
  • Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of Firearm
  • Possession of a Loaded Prohibited or Restricted Firearm
  • Occupant of a Motor Vehicle Knowing there was Firearm
  • Possession of a Prohibited Device or Ammunition or Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized x2
  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking x3

Both individuals were held pending a bail hearing.
