The Canine Unit Welcomes a New Recruit

We have just welcomed a 15-month-old Belgian Shepherd, who originated from Holland, to our canine unit. He has some tough training ahead but we have confidence that our rigorous selection process has found a canine that will serve and protect us well.

He is currently undergoing foundation training with our Canine Unit Master Trainer Mike and once complete he will be assigned to his two legged partner.  This new canine team will then undergo extensive training together in the areas of tracking, evidence searches, open area searches, building searches, handler protection and criminal apprehension. During this process his name will also be selected by his handler and will be announced at his badge presentation in the spring.
