Teamwork Makes The Dream Work
You have probably already heard the quote by John Maxwell, “Teamwork makes the dream work.” That certainly holds true for a group of officers who recently received a Police Services Board Award for their roles in an arrest.
In February 2017, four suspects robbed a bank in Mississauga. As officers arrived, they fled the area in a car. Sergeant Jeff Scardamaglia spotted the vehicle a short distance away and used his police radio to coordinate other officers while strategically following it. The men tried to evade the officers, lost control of their car and ended up crashing into a ditch. They then ran into a field filled with tall grass and tried to conceal themselves from officers.
Constables Kylon Espirtu-George, Jeffrey Gillespie, Sarah Laszczuk, Jaime Wallace and D’Arcy O’Shea used exceptional communication skills, formed a plan and successfully arrested all of the suspects. As a result, cash stolen from the bank, a sawed-off shotgun and a firearm were recovered.
Congratulations on a well-deserved award!
