Take Safety Along for the Ride

Are you planning to use a mode of transportation other than a car this summer? Bicycles, inline skates, scooters, skateboards, and even Segways. All of these are great ways to get outside, save money, and get fit.
Whatever method you choose, you must always remember to obey traffic signals and follow these safety tips.
- Follow the laws of the Highway Traffic Act while traveling on the roadways alongside motor vehicles.
- All road users should make sure they are visible to each other. Having bright colors and reflective materials on your clothes, helmets, bags, and equipment is beneficial and helps to keep you and your loved ones safer as you enjoy your travel.
- Store away your electronic devices, keep your head up and be aware of your surroundings at all times. It could save your life.
- Before entering the crosswalk, dismount your equipment (if possible), make eye contact with drivers, and look both ways before crossing.
- Always wear a helmet.
