*** MEDIA INVITE *** Special Olympics Legacy Fund Presentation
Region of Peel â On Friday, July 27, 2018, Peel Regional Police in partnership with Special Olympics Ontario will officially announce the sponsorship of 52 Special Olympics athletes from the Peel Region. These athletes have qualified for the 2018 Special Olympics Canada Summer Games being held in Antigonish, Nova Scotia. In 2017, the Legacy Fund was created from remaining monies donated to the Special Olympics Ontario Provincial Summer Games which were hosted by Peel Regional Police. This Legacy Fund will continue to support local Special Olympics athletes in a variety of endeavours such as these National Games.
The announcement will take place at the Peel Regional Police Headquarters, located at 7150 Mississauga Road in the City of Mississauga.
Deputy Chief Christopher McCord will be in attendance at 10:00 a.m. along with athletes and coaches who will be representing Team Ontario at National Games.
