RIDE Officers Out On Land and Water During Victoria Day Long Weekend

Region of Peel – Reducing Impaired Driving Everywhere (R.I.D.E.) focuses on detecting and removing those individuals from our roads and waterways who choose to drive under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Peel Regional Police conduct R.I.D.E. checks throughout the year and maintain a zero-tolerance policy with respect to impaired driving related offences.

Road Safety Services will be conducting Victoria Day Long Weekend R.I.D.E spot checks on Friday May 18, 2018 to Monday May 22, 2018.

Peel Regional Police wants everyone to enjoy a safe Victoria Day Long Weekend and celebrate responsibly.

On Peel’s waterways, members of the Marine Unit, Peel Crime Stoppers and M.A.D.D. Canada, helped kick-off the boating season Thursday May 17, 2018, with an awareness campaign in Toronto.

Motorists are reminded that there is zero tolerance for drinking and driving in the Region of Peel.  If you believe another motorist is impaired, you are urged to call 9-1-1 from your cell phone to report it to police.

Boaters are reminded that a charge of Impaired Operation of a Vessel carries the same penalties as that of Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle.  It will result in the 90-day suspension of the boater’s driver’s licence and, upon conviction, a driving prohibition of one year.
