Radio Call Results in Firearm Seizure
Region of Peel—Officers from the 11 Division Criminal Investigation Bureau have seized a firearm and laid multiple criminal charges after patrol officers respond to a weapons dangerous call in Mississauga.
On June 8, 2025, at approximately 10:27 p.m., patrol officers attended the area of Tenth Line West & Thomas Street to investigate an altercation amongst a group of individuals, where someone was allegedly in possession of a firearm. Investigation revealed that the accused party was in an argument with the other individuals and at some point, he discharged a round before fleeing the area. There were no reports of any physical injuries.
A short time later, Waqas Tahir Qureshi, 38-year-old man from Mississauga was located, arrested and charged with the following criminal offences:
- Utter Threat to Cause Death or Bodily Harm
- Careless Use of Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited Device or Ammunition
- Point Firearm
- Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
- Assault with A Weapon
- Firearm - Use While Committing Offence
- Unauthorized Possession of Firearm
- Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of Firearm
- Carrying concealed weapon
- Possession of Firearm, etc. Contrary to Order
- Tampering with serial number of Firearm
- Possession of a Loaded Prohibited or Restricted Firearm
- Possession of a Controlled Substance - Schedule I Cocaine
He was held pending a bail hearing
