Public Assistance Sought in Identifying Additional Fraud Victims

Region of Peel – Investigators with the 21 Division Criminal Investigation Bureau (CIB) have arrested two men in connection to a fraud investigation and are seeking the public’s help in identifying additional victims.

In July 2024, Peel Regional Police received reports of a suspected fraudulent contracting business operating under the name A&E Contractors in Brampton and Mississauga, linked to Timothy Carter.

Following a two-year investigation, investigators determined the company had no legitimate business operations, physical address, or corporate records. The known financial loss exceeds $800,000.

As a result, the following individuals were arrested and charged:

Timothy Carter, 66, of Mississauga

  • Fraud Over $5,000 x2
  • Utter Threats
  • Assault
  • Assault with a Weapon

Marco Maggisano, 55, of Vaughan

  • Fraud Over $5,000
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime
  • Laundering Proceeds of Crime Committed within Canada

Investigators believe there may be additional victims and are urging anyone who may have had dealings with A&E Contractors to contact 21 Division CIB at 905-453-2121, ext. 2133. Residents are urged to carefully verify any contractor before hiring, including checking references and business legitimacy, verifying credentials, and reviewing social media or online feedback.
