Police Provide Robbery Prevention Tips
Region of Peel– Investigators from the 22 Division Criminal Investigation Bureau would like to alert the public of ongoing reports of food delivery driver robberies and numerous buy and sell exchange robberies.
In the past six months there were several reports of victims agreeing to meet in the City of Brampton after responding to an add online for sale of an Iphone. The seller then brandishes a weapon and robs the victim of their personal belongings. No injuries were suffered to the victims.
Peel Regional Police want to remind the public that when purchasing items through online classified websites, please consider the following:
- Always ask yourself, is this sale too good to be true?
- Do not make online purchases from unverified and unknown sources.
- Always consider taking someone with you for the exchange.
- Always meet in well-lit public areas and consider using our Buy and Sell Exchange Zones located at 11, 12 or 22 Division.
For more information on our Buy and Sell Exchange Zones visit our website.
In the month of December 2018, investigators received several reports of food delivery drivers being robbed of their personal belongings when dropping off the orders. In some instances a weapon was brandished. No injuries were suffered to the victims.
