Police Light up a Dark Alley

On Sunday, February 24, Chief McCord, along with 350 Peel Regional Police employees coordinated their neon clothing while trying to bowl some strikes at the sold out 2019 Tim Hortons Bowl for Kids Sake event held at Classic Bowl in Mississauga.  Not to ‘spare’ any details but Peel Police have been involved with Big Brothers Big Sisters for almost 30 years.

Who knew that good fun, good company and a little friendly competition could raise over $45,000 in support of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Peel, but that’s how we roll. Even with the occasional gutter ball, nothing dampened the spirits of those who were there to celebrate and support young people. The money raised will go directly towards providing mentoring programs and supportive relationships for over 2,000 kids. Some of the money will also go towards helping to recruit new volunteers for the 200 youth still waiting for a mentor.

11 Division Superintendent Heather Ramore, one of the Big Brothers Big Sisters Bowling Committee co-chairs said, “I am proud of the partnership that Peel Regional Police have with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Peel. This event would not be possible without the support of our employees and community sponsors. Thank you to all”.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Peel is always looking for volunteers who want to make difference in a child’s life, if you’re interested in volunteering or becoming a mentor please visit their website .
