Police Charge Man for Numerous Offences

Region of Peel– Investigators from the 12 Division Criminal Investigation Bureau have made an arrest in relation to a series of offences that took place within the last year.

Beginning in February 2018, the suspect in this incident attended several commercial premises in the Region of Peel and victimized over 20 businesses of their property. Investigators were able to succesfully identify the suspect and issued a warrant for his arrest.

On September 8, 2018, the suspect was observed operating a vehicle by officers on patrol in the City of Mississauga. Officers attempted to stop the suspect who responded by accelerating his vehicle towards them, striking a police cruiser and another vehicle and subsequently fled the area. As a result, several other charges were added onto the warrants issued for the suspect.

On Monday, October 15, 2018, officers located and arrested the suspect in the vicinity of a motel in the City of Mississauga.

Mark Rugala, a 24 year-old man of no fixed address, is charged with 53 offences and will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton on October 16, 2018.
