Police Arrest Two Females for Thefts from Retirement Centre

Region of PeelInvestigators from the 21 Division Criminal Investigation Bureau have arrested and charged two females in relation to thefts from a retirement centre in the City of Brampton.

On Monday, June 4, 2018 at approximately 7:00 p.m. two unknown females accompanied by three children and a cat attended a retirement centre in the area of Peel Centre Drive and Central Parkway Drive in Brampton. The group entered one of the units with an excuse to use the washroom. After the parties left, an 80 year-old victim realized his wallet was stolen. The victim’s debit card was then used to make several transactions.

On Sunday, June 17, 2018 sometime between 2:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. the two females with children attended the same retirement centre. The females convinced another resident to invite them into his unit. After the parties left, the 83 year-old victim, realized some of his property was stolen. 

On Tuesday, July 24, 2018 Investigators arrested and charged Lucy Lakatos, a 37 year-old female of Brampton, and Jackie Lakatos, a 32 year-old female of Brampton, with two counts of theft, possession of stolen property, and multiple counts of fraud.

Both females appeared at the A. Grenville and William Davis Court House for a bail hearing on Wednesday, July 25, 2018.
