Police Appealing for Witnesses in Highway 410 Incidents

Region of PeelInvestigators from the Peel Regional Police Homicide and Missing Persons Bureau are investigating a homicide that occurred on November 13, 2018, in the City of Mississauga and a shooting incident that happened on November 21, 2018, in the City of Brampton. Investigators have concluded that both of these incidents, which occurred on Highway 410, are related and were targeted.  These shootings were not random incidents.

On Tuesday, November 13, 2018 at approximately 12:55 a.m. Ontario Provincial Police officers responded to reports of a single vehicle accident on the northbound Highway 410 near Courtney Park Drive, Mississauga.  Upon arrival a vehicle was located in the ditch and it was determined that the lone occupant had been shot. The victim was transported to Sunnybrook hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.

The investigation has revealed the victim’s identity was mistaken. Jason Ramkishun, a 23- year-old man from Brampton was not the intended target nor was he known to police.

On Tuesday, November 20, 2018, at approximately 11:21 p.m., a 26-year-old man from Brampton was operating a vehicle north bound on Highway 410 in the area of Steeles Avenue in the City of Brampton.  At this time unknown suspects fired multiple shots at the moving vehicle, striking the victim occupant, resulting in serious but non-life threatening injuries.  Investigators believe that this victim was the intended target.
