Peel Regional Police Emergency Preparedness Exercise
Region of Peel â Peel Regional Police will be conducting a full scale emergency preparedness exercise at the Square One Shopping Centre.
On Monday, May 28, 2018 from 2:00 a.m. till 4:00 a.m. Peel Regional Police will be running a full scale training exercise named project FireFly. The exercise is being conducted to ensure that Emergency Services are able to provide the best possible response to a critical incident in the community. This scenario has been planned over several months and would not be possible without the cooperation and participation from many others, including Peel Paramedics, Mississauga Fire, the emergency management offices from Region of Peel, City Of Mississauga and the City of Brampton.
A special thank you to Square One for their tremendous support of this event, with their participation and generous use of their facility. Sheridan College has also been integral in providing participants and the use of their facility.
This exercise is meant to test various components of Peel Regional Police, Peel Tactical Paramedics, Mississauga Fire and Square One Security in an emergency situation. This exercise is being conducted to identify strengths and weaknesses of the joint emergency services response.
It will not interfere with the Emergency Services or Transit Services that are regularly provided within the Region.
Sergeant Matt Miller of Emergency Planning Operations will be available Sunday May 27, 2018 at 11:30 p.m. at Sheridan College - McCallion Campus located at 4180 Duke of York Boulevard in Mississauga to provide information regarding the exercise to the media and allow for a photo opportunity.
