Region of Peel – Peel Regional Police has earned national recognition with a 2026 Geotab Innovation Award after saving more than 100,000 litres of fuel through innovative, data-driven technology.

In April 2024, Peel Regional Police launched a program installing Geotab technology in select police vehicles. The system tracks idling, fuel consumption, maintenance requirements and vehicle routing in real time, supporting more informed operational and fleet management decisions.

The program supported a targeted anti-idling initiative at division buildings, courthouses and hospitals, significantly reducing fuel consumption, lowering emissions and saving taxpayer dollars. Fleet data also enabled approximately $2 million in planned patrol vehicle funding to be redirected toward other critical capital priorities.

The Geotab Innovation Awards recognize organizations that set new benchmarks in fleet safety, productivity and operational excellence.
