Peel Region’s Third Murder of 2019

Region of Peel – Members of the Homicide and Missing Persons Bureau are investigating the Region’s third murder of 2019.

On Friday March 8, 2019 at 10:20 pm, police responded to a report of a stabbing in the area of Ann Street in south Mississauga. As a result of the incident, a 54 year-old Mississauga male succumbed to the injury.

On Saturday, March 9, 2019 investigators from the Homicide and Missing Persons Bureau charged Mary Ljubanovich, a 48 year old female from Mississauga, with Second Degree Murder.

The deceased has been identified as Michael Johnston.

An autopsy is scheduled for later this week where an official cause of death will be determined. 

Ms. Ljubanovich will be making a brief court appearance on March 9, 2019 to be remanded into custody.

Investigators are satisfied that there are no outstanding suspects.
