Peel Region’s 19th and 20th Homicide of the Year
Region of Peel – On September 2, 2018, at approximately 12:43 a.m., officers responded to the area of Vodden Street East, west of Kennedy Road in the City of Brampton in regards to a shooting. Officers arrived on scene and located two victims suffering from obvious signs of trauma.
A male and female victim were both transported to hospital for treatment, where the male victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased. The male victim has been identified as Clifford Correia, a 27-year old from Brampton.
In a separate incident, at approximately 6:34 a.m., police responded to second shooting that occurred on Townley Crescent in the City of Brampton. Officers arrived on scene and located a male victim suffering from obvious signs of trauma on the boulevard area. The male victim was pronounced deceased on scene. The male victim has been identified as Derrick McKeown, a 33-year old male from the Georgetown area.
The Homicide and Missing Persons Bureau has taken carriage of both investigations, police believe these were targeted incidents and appear to be related to one another. The investigations into each are on-going.
