Peel Police-Young Mother Charged in Baby’s Death

Region of Peel – Investigators from the Peel Regional Police Homicide and Missing Persons Bureau have arrested and charged a 15 year-old female in the City of Brampton.

On Friday, May 25, 2018 at approximately 1:20 p.m., officers received information that a 15 year-old female had given birth to a baby on Tuesday May 22, 2018 which was not disclosed to anyone at that time. Subsequent investigation resulted in police locating the body of a new born baby in the area of her residence in the City of Brampton. 

A 15 year-old female from Brampton was arrested and charged with Indignity to Dead Body and Concealing Body of Child. She was held for a bail hearing on Saturday May 26, 2018 at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton.                    

A general provision of the Youth Criminal Justice Act (Y.C.J.A.) prohibits the release of the name of a Young Person and, therefore, the identities of the Young Persons charged in this investigation are protected.
