Peel Police Seize Another Illegal Firearm Following Traffic Stop

Region of PeelOfficers from the Strategic Tactical Enforcement Policing (STEP) team located a loaded firearm and have arrested three men following a traffic stop in Mississauga. This marks the 36th illegal firearm the STEP team has seized in the last 11 months.

On March 6 at approximately 10:15 pm, officers investigated a vehicle in the area of Bristol Road West and Creditview Road.  During the investigation, officers observed the occupants to be in violation of the Cannabis Control Act. 

The occupants were instructed to exit the vehicle for a search.  One of the accused parties fled on foot, a brief foot pursuit ensued, and the accused person was taken into custody.  During the search of the accused, a loaded illegal handgun and a magazine containing ammunition were located.

As a result, the following individuals were arrested and charged:

Malik Laroche, an 18-year-old man from Brampton

  • Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm     
  • Possession of a Prohibited Firearm with Ammunition
  • Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
  • Occupant of a Motor Vehicle Knowing there was a Firearm
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited Device or Ammunition (X2)
  • Possess Firearm with Altered Serial Number
  • Careless Storage of a Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited Device or Ammunition
  • Carry Concealed Weapon

Jedidiah Henry, a 19- year-old man from Brampton

  •   Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
  •  Possession of a Prohibited Firearm with Ammunition
  •  Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
  •  Occupant of a Motor Vehicle Knowing there was a Firearm
  •  Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited Device or Ammunition (X2)
  •  Possess Firearm with Altered Serial Number
  •  Careless Storage of a Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited Device or Ammunition

·       David Eze, a 22-year-old man from Mississauga

  • Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
  • Possession of a Prohibited Firearm with Ammunition
  • Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
  • Occupant of a Motor Vehicle Knowing there was a Firearm
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited Device or Ammunition (X2)
  • Possess Firearm with Altered Serial Number
  • Careless Storage of a Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited Device or Ammunition
  • Have Care or Control of a Vehicle or Boat with Cannabis Readily Available
