Peel Police - Police Identify Victim in Mississauga Pedestrian Fail to Remain Fatality

Region of Peel – Investigators from the Major Collision Bureau are releasing the identity of the victim of a fatal fail to remain collision in the hopes that a family member will contact police.

On Thursday, February 15, 2018, at approximately 8:40 p.m. Layla WILKE, a 61 year-old female of Mississauga, was crossing Mavis Road in the area of Knotty Pine Grove in the City of Mississauga. As WILKE crossed into the south bound lane of Mavis Road, she was struck by a south bound vehicle. Layla WILKE suffered major injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The vehicle, a small white car, did not remain at the scene.

Police have recovered video from the area of the collision and feel that the driver likely panicked after striking the pedestrian who was crossing without the right of way. Police are appealing to the driver of the vehicle to come forward.

Anyone who may have witnessed the collision, has dashboard video footage of the incident or who may have information regarding the actions of the pedestrian and /or driver prior to the collision is asked to contact investigators with the Major Collision Bureau at (905) 453-2121, ext. 3710.
