PEEL POLICE AND MISSISSAUGA STEELHEADS IN SUPPORT OF SPECIAL OLYMPICS
Mississauga - On Sunday, November 5, 2017, officers and civilians from Peel Regional Police will be joining Special Olympics Athletes and the Mississauga Steelheads hockey team at the Hershey Centre to raise money for Special Olympics during the “OHL/Big Ticket Event.” This event is a provincial awareness and fundraising event supporting Special Olympics Ontario. The funds raised help to provide a local, year-round program of fitness, recreation and competition for athletes with intellectual disabilities.
Chief Jennifer Evans will join Special Olympics Athlete Scott MacHattie at center ice where they will ‘drop the puck’ to start the game. Scott has been involved with Special Olympics for 20 years, competing in eight different sports over the years including swimming, basketball and floor hockey. Scott was a participant in soccer at this summer’s Special Olympics Games that were held right here in the Region of Peel and hosted by the Peel Regional Police.
Come out and support the Steelheads as they take on the Peterborough Petes on Sunday, November 5th, 2017 at 2:00p.m. Tickets are available online through Ticketmaster and at the Hershey Centre box office. Donations will be accepted during the game, with the money raised going directly to Special Olympics Ontario.
Special Olympics Ontario relies heavily on the generosity of individual and corporate sponsors to help raise the $6 million needed annually to sustain program growth.
