Region of Peel – Investigators from the Central Robbery Bureau have charged three young persons in relation to a series of violent smash and grab jewellery store robberies.

Between January 19 and February 4, 2025, several suspects committed three robberies targeting jewellery stores within shopping mall settings in Peel Region. Two of these robberies occurred in Mississauga and one in Brampton. In all instances, the suspects rushed into the jewellery store armed with hammers and pry bars. Once inside the store the suspects began smashing glass display cases and removing merchandise with no regard for the safety of customers or employees. The suspects then fled the mall utilizing a stolen car as their get away vehicle.

Investigators identified and located three suspects involved in these offences. The stolen vehicle used by the suspects was also recovered. As a result of the investigation, the following young persons have been arrested and charged with multiple offences.

16-year-old male from Toronto:

  • Robbery
  • Wear Disguise with Intent

Two of the accused were on court ordered release forms in relation to previous various violent offences.

A general provision of the Youth Criminal Justice Act (Y.C.J.A.) prohibits the release of the name of a Young Person, and, therefore, the identity of the Young Persons charged in this investigation is protected.

The three accused were held for a bail hearing and appeared at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton. This remains an ongoing investigation, and investigators anticipate further arrests and charges.
