Man Wanted for Parole Violation/Firearms Offences
Region of Peel – Investigators from the 21 Division Criminal Investigation Bureau (CIB) are seeking assistance from the public in locating a man in violation of parole and wanted for firearms offences.
Shaquane Kevin Stewart, a 25-year-old man from Brampton, was convicted of prior firearms charges and sentenced to a period of incarceration. After serving part of his sentence, he was released to serve the remainder in a community-based residential facility (Halfway house) and ordered to follow strict conditions.
After an investigation by Peel Police, it was discovered that Shaquane Stewart, while on parole, was found to be in possession of a loaded illegal firearm with it’s serial number removed. He has since fled his residential facility and his whereabouts are unknown.
Shaquane’s parole has been revoked, and he is currently wanted on a Canada-wide warrant by the Repeat Offender Parole Enforcement squad (ROPE). He is also wanted by the Peel Regional Police for the following firearms offences:
- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
- Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
- Possession of a Loaded Prohibited or Restricted Firearm
- Tampering with a Serial number of a Firearm
- Possession of a Prohibited Device or Ammunition Knowing It’s Possession is Unauthorized
- Careless storage of a Firearm
- Possession of a Firearm Contrary to a Court Order
Shaquane is described as 6’3, approximately 220 lbs, with a dark complexion, short-style hair, brown eyes, and a beard. He should be considered armed and dangerous, and if seen, members of the public should call 9-1-1.
Investigators are asking anyone with information on his whereabouts to contact 21 Division Criminal Investigation Bureau officers at 905-453-2121 extension 2133. Information may also be left anonymously by calling Peel Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or visiting peelcrimestoppers.ca.
