Man Charged in Mississauga Shooting from February

Region of Peel – Investigators with the 11 Division Criminal Investigation Bureau have completed a five-month-long investigation. Resulting in the arrest of a man wanted on Canada-wide warrant for Attempt Murder in the City of Mississauga.

On Saturday, February 22, 2020, at approximately 6:43 p.m., police responded to Mavis Road and Britannia Road in Mississauga for reports of a male shot in the parking lot of a local business.

The initial investigation revealed that a struggle ensued between the victim and one of the suspects. The suspect brandished a firearm and shot the victim. The victim underwent surgery and is recovering from his injuries.

Officers executed multiple search warrants throughout the investigation. Information revealed the suspect had fled the country. As a result, the investigators worked with INTERPOL, a Canada-wide warrant for the offence of Attempted Murder Using Firearm, and eight additional charges was issued.  Information was received, the wanted party had returned to the county.

On July 19, 2020, Shahid Todd, a 22-year-old man from Mississauga, was arrested and charged with the following offences:

1) Attempted Murder

2) Aggravated Assault

3) Carrying a Concealed Weapon.

4) Point Firearm.

5) Discharge Firearm with Intent

6) Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm

7) Possession of a Loaded Prohibited or Restricted Firearm

8) Occupant of a Motor Vehicle Knowing there was a Firearm

9) Robbery

He was held for a bail hearing to attend the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton.
