Man Arrested, Firearm Seized After Traffic Stop

Region of Peel – Officers from 22 Division have arrested and charged a Toronto man with several firearms offences following a traffic stop in Brampton.
On August 15, 2025, officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle near Williams Parkway and Kennedy Road. During the subsequent investigation, officers located a loaded firearm and a quantity of suspected drugs within the vehicle.
As a result, Ricardo Dawson, a 32-year-old man from Toronto, has been charged with the following offences:
- Unauthorized Possession of Firearm
- Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of Firearm
- Possession of a loaded prohibited or Restricted Firearm
- Occupant of Motor Vehicle knowing There was a Firearm
- Possess Firearm with Altered Serial Number
- Possession of Firearm, etc. Contrary to Order
- Possession of a Controlled Substance – Schedule III Other Drugs
- Possession for the Purpose of Distributing
The accused is subject to a lifetime firearms prohibition after a previous conviction for possessing an illegal firearm; he was held in custody pending a bail hearing and attended the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton.
