Man Arrested and Charged for Breach of Trust by Public Officer
Region of Peel– A joint investigation with the Peel Regional Police Fraud Bureau, Ontario College of Trades and the Ministry of Training Colleges and Universities have lead to the arrest and charge of a man for Breach of Trust by Public Officer, in the City of Mississauga.
On September 5, 2018 police began investigating, an employee the Ministry of Training Colleges and Universities. The employee had access to trade exams as well as access to the Ontario College of trade tradesperson and journeyperson database. Information from the Ontario College of trades revealed that an individual was contacting failing applicants and offering the exam answers for a fee.
On November 1, 2018 at 3:25 p.m. in the area of City Center Drive in Mississauga, Umar Gilani a 28 year-old man from Mississauga was arrested for Breach of Trust by Public Officer. He was released on a Promise to Appear and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton on December 3rd, 2018.
