Man Arrested After Faking Covid-19 Contact
Region of Peelâ Officers from 22 Division have arrested a Brampton man after he claimed to have had contact with a person who had tested positive for Covid-19.
On Monday, March 30, 2020, at 9:17 a.m., police were contacted by a Brampton business owner who had recently shut down his business and sent all employees home after a worker called in on March 27, 2020 stating that a family member has tested positive for Covid-19.
Further investigation revealed the information was false, there was no family member exposed or sick.
A 39-year-old man from Brampton was charged with Public Mischief. He was released on an Appearance Notice with a future date to attend the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton.
