Loaded Unauthorized Firearm Seized During Traffic Stop in Brampton
Region of Peel â Officers from the 22 Division Community Intervention and Response Team (CIRT) have arrested and charged an 18-year-old male from Brampton after a traffic stop for careless driving led to the seizure of a loaded, unauthorized firearm.
On Friday, Feb. 27, CIRT officers were on patrol in the area Kennedy Road and Clarence Road in Brampton when they observed a vehicle speeding and making unsafe lane changes.

Upon stopping the vehicle, officers conducted a search of the driver under the Cannabis Control Act and found a loaded Glock 17 handgun and magazine with 17 rounds of ammunition.
As a result, Malachi King-Favours has been arrested and charged with the following offences:
- Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of Firearm
- Carrying concealed weapon
- Occupant of Motor Vehicle Knowing there was Firearm
- Possession of a Loaded Prohibited or Restricted Firearm
- Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
- Possession of a Prohibited Device or Ammunition Knowing Its Possession is Unauthorized
- Careless Driving
King-Favours was held pending a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice.
