Loaded Gun Recovered

Region of Peel– Officers from the Peel Regional Police Vice and Narcotics Street Level Organized Crime Unit have arrested and charged one man with numerous firearm related offences.

On Monday, January 6, 2020, a traffic stop was initiated at 11:10 p.m. at the intersection of Cawthra Rd. and Eastgate Pkwy., in the City of Mississauga. During the course of the traffic stop, the driver attempted to evade arrest by ramming his vehicle into the police vehicles in an attempt to break free. He then made an attempt to escape on foot where he was subsequently arrested by members of VNSLOC unit. There were no injuries sustained by any of the parties involved.

The arrest resulted in the recovery of a loaded Glock 23 pistol. Also located was quantity of Crack Cocaine.

As a result, the 24-year-old man from Brampton was charged with the following criminal offences.   

Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm

Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm

Possession of a Loaded Prohibited or Restricted Firearm

Occupant of a Motor Vehicle with a Firearm

Possession of a Firearm Contrary to Prohibition Order x 2

Flight from Police

Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle

Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – Crack Cocaine

The 24-year-old man will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton on January 7, 2020
