Loaded Firearm Seized By Specialized Enforcement Bureau

Region of Peel – Officers from Strategic Tactical Enforcement Policing (S.T.E.P.) arrested three men for multiple offences, including possession of an unauthorized firearm. One of the accused was released on bail less than two years ago with conditions to not possess a weapon.

It is alleged that on June 24, 2023, the three accused were in the area of Steeles Avenue East and Tomken Road, in the City of Brampton.

The men were in a vehicle with illicit drugs in plain view at which time all three men were arrested. While conducting a search of the vehicle officers seized a loaded firearm, ammunition, and a quantity of drugs.

As a result of the investigation, Ruxsan Arulrajah and Deshawn Graham, both 28-years-old from Toronto, and 29 year-old Thujeepan Rajeswaran of Brampton were charged with the following Criminal Code offences.

  • Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
  • Occupant of Motor Vehicle Knowing there was a Firearm
  • Careless Storage of a Firearm
  • Possession of a Loaded Prohibited Firearm
  • Possession of a Prohibited Device
  • Carrying a Concealed Weapon
  • Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose
  • Possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking- Cocaine
  • Possession of a controlled substance- Fentanyl

 As indicated, Ruxsan Arulrajah was on bail with several conditions, including not to be in possession of weapons, which resulted from a previous robbery and firearm charges.  As a result, he was further charged with:

  • Fail to comply with release order
