Investigators Seeking Public’s Assistance in Restaurant Delivery Driver Robberies

Region of Peel - Investigators from the 22 Criminal Investigation Bureau are warning the public and asking for their assistance in identifying a male suspect involved in numerous restaurant delivery driver robberies in the City of Brampton.

Between Wednesday June 27, 2018 and Saturday July 7, 2018 a total of five violent armed delivery driver robberies have occurred in the City of Brampton. 

On Saturday July 7, 2018 at approximately 11:00 a.m. a restaurant delivery driver attended a residence in the area of Queen Street and McMurchy Avenue in Brampton for a delivery. An adult male brandished a knife and robbed the driver of his cell phone and the food. No injuries were sustained to the driver.

On Saturday July 7, 2018 at approximately 6:00 p.m. a restaurant delivery driver attended a residence in the area of Queen Street and McMurchy Avenue in Brampton for a delivery. Again an adult male brandished a knife and robbed the driver of the food. No injuries were sustained to the driver.

Police arrested a 15 year-old male young offender from Brampton on Saturday June 30, 2018 and has been charged with Robbery, Possession of Stolen Property, Fraudulent Use of Credit Card and Breach of Recognizance.

Police are seeking the public’s assistance in locating the second male suspect involved. The male suspect is described as male black, dark complexion, skinny build, 17-20 years old. The suspect has been seen wearing, bandanas and dark hoodies to conceal his identity and is considered to be armed and dangerous. If seen or if his location is known, do not approach and immediately contact police.

Police want to urge all delivery drivers to take extra precaution when making their deliveries.

Here are some Safety Tips for Delivery Drivers:

  • Don’t carry more money than required for deliveries.
  • Drivers should avoid carrying their personal credit cards and valuables.
  • For apartment building deliveries drivers should request the customer to meet in the well-lit lobby where cameras are present.
  • Have a dash camera on your vehicle.
  • Always remember to lock your vehicle.
  • If something doesn’t look or feel right than don’t make the delivery.

A general provision of the Youth Criminal Justice Act (Y.C.J.A.) prohibits the release of the name of a Young Person and, therefore, the identity of the Young Person charged in this investigation is protected.
