Investigators Appealing for Assistance to Identify Suspect in Violent Sexual Assault
Region of Peel – Investigators from the Special Victims Unit are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a suspect in a violent sexual assault in the City of Mississauga.
On Sunday, October 8, 2020, just after 5:00 a.m., a woman contacted Police and reported that she had been sexually assaulted by an unknown male while a guest at a hotel in South-East Mississauga. The victim further reported that the suspect in this incident brandished a knife to the victim during the attack.
As the attack ended, the victim was forced to provide the suspect with money from her room. After robbing the victim, the suspect fled the hotel, possibly in a dark coloured sports utility vehicle, similar to a Chevrolet Equinox
The suspect in this violent attack is described as a Black man in his 30’s, six feet tall, muscular, with brown eyes, black hair and a full beard. At the time of the attack the suspect was wearing a black puffy jacket, a black shirt, and beige pants.
Investigators believe that this suspect may have drawn the attention of others in the time leading up to the incident and are appealing to anyone who may recognize or may have had an encounter with him to contact the police.
Investigators would also like to remind the public to protect themselves from becoming a victim of a similar incident by:
- Remaining cognizant of their surroundings at all times
- Avoiding meeting up with relatively unknown people, especially alone
- If choosing to meet up, choosing public locations with numerous potential witnesses
